A relatively new and expanding area of practice involves family pets. Many pet owners feel an emotional attachment to their pets akin to a parent/child relationship. When a relationship ends or a family must be restructured due to divorce, a growing number of pet owners are seeking agreements either to prevent or resolve disputes involving pet related topics.

Some of these topics include: where pets will reside, contact schedules, modification of contact schedules, decisions about on-going and long-term care, pet insurance, pet trusts and financial responsibilities.
